Did the story hold your interest from the very beginning? Why not?

Could you relate to Kristen Cole? When did you empathize with her pain or excitement?

When I read the last two sentences of the cliff-hanger ending, I thought:

This miserable writer killed the dog... the best dog in the whole world... and he deserves every one-star review he gets. *spits on the ground*

Penelope is injured, and maybe unconsious, but she's going to be just fine. In fact, she will be in perfect health by the end of the next book. Even if winter is coming for Kristen, this is not a George R. R. Martin story, and Penelope will walk away safe and sound specifically because she's a dog and such a good girl.

Was there a point at which you felt the story lagged or you became less than excited about finding out what was going to happen next? Where, exactly?
